Kent started to write late in life following a career in banking and real estate. After graduating from Stanford, two years in the Army (one year in Vietnam), he went into the business world and among other locales spent five years in Asia (Taiwan and Japan) where exposures to different cultures broadened his horizons. After he returned to the States, he started writing short stories which led to his novels. He and his wife reside in San Diego.
